Jeffrey Shen is a Master’s of Engineering student at MIT studying computer science. His work combines software development, machine learning, data visualization, cartography, and writing to clarify and expose the sociopolitical impacts of technology, with a particular focus on cities, media, and carceral technologies. He is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Programs in Digital Humanities at MIT, where he contributes to the training and supervision of the Lab’s undergraduate research cohort, and helps with project design, management, and execution. Previously, he was a full-stack software engineering fellow at the U.S. Census Bureau and did his undergraduate at MIT, with a Bachelor’s in computer science and a minor in political science.
